Basic Math
Basic math tutoring is provided to help young people master the simple concepts of mathematics that will help them later on in their math journey with upper level classes such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics
Many students struggle with basic mathematics due to several reasons. A simple lack of confidence in their ability to succeed is the most prevalent. Mathematics is a subject in which you must practice in order to achieve ultimate success. Any inconsistency in a students study pattern can affect their ability to comprehend and master the material. In order for a student to be successful, proper time must be applied for concepts to be properly ingrained. My Math Experts can provide that necessary assistance and guidance that many students desire to have.
Algebra & Trigonometry
Algebra is one of the primary courses for students who are taking mathematics. Some topics include Linear Equations; Functions; Graphing; Polynomials; Quadratic; Exponential and Logarithmic; Factoring, Applications, Absolute Value.
Students who take of Algebra may have difficulty with this subject for a number of reasons. Identifying what is being asked of them can be one of the main sticking points in their development. Terms like simplify, solve, factor, and graph can often lead to confusion. My Math Expert will give students a platform in which they learn how to understand what each of these terms represents and how to navigate successfully through their problems to conclude with the right solutions.
Geometry
Geometry is the mathematics of shapes and primarily a class in high school mathematics. My Math Expert provides assistance with learning about Lines; Circles; Triangles; Planes; Parallel Lines; Coordinate Geometry; Slope; Theorems; Proofs.
Geometry has various shapes and sizes that at times can be hard for students to visualize. Geometry also consists of a vast array of proofs, postulates, and theorems. Due to these vast array of shapes and concepts to remember or recognize, Students can be easily confused. Geometry is basically just seen during the first or second year of high school while courses like algebra are taught in high school for two years therefore having more time to cover more topics. Geometry therefore has to compress more topics into a shorter time span. This lack of time can cause students to feel rushed with comprehension of geometric principles that are necessary for their success.
Calculus
Calculus is the study of mathematical change and is one of the most important courses in the field of mathematics. Successful completion of this course can propel students into many different careers such as engineering, physics, science, and medicine. The main two branches are differential but vitally important. Some major topics include Limits; Continuity; Derivatives; Integrals and Techniques; Applications; Sequences; Series.
Often times the reason a student struggles with calculus is due to their deficiencies with their algebra. Many time they have difficulty in setting up problems such as optimization/related rates, and/or properly following differentiation and integration technique procedures.
We will assist students in this challenging course by implementing a step by step approach that enables a student to understand what is being asked of them and how to independently reach a solution that leads to higher retention and confidence.
Statistics
Statistics, or the science of data, is a major course in the field of mathematics. Topics may include Data Classification and Experimental Design; Probability; Probability Distributions(Discrete and Normal); Confidence Intervals; Hypothesis Testing and Regression. We help students with these types of topics in the field of statistics.
Students often struggle with statistics due to the vast number of different formulas that exists for this course. Finding the mean, median and mode and distinguishing between different types of graphs such as histograms, boxplots, and stem and leaf plots are also difficulties that students often have. Lastly, one other problem that often arises is the inability to properly read statistical tables such as the Z table ,T table, Random Binomial Chart, and Chi Square Table.
Chemistry
With a BS in Chemical Engineering, I have a specific focus on helping students excel at Chemistry. With my chemistry tutoring I will help you to stay on top of the material, make sure you have a solid foundation, and—ultimately—keep you above the curve in your class.
